Sinfonía Jesuita en Guadalajara: 60º Aniversario del ITESO / The Jesuit Symphony in Guadalajara: ITESO 60º Anniversary
To celebrate the 60th Anniversary of ITESO (the Jesuit University at Guadalajara), Venus Rey Jr’s Jesuit Symphony will be performed in two concerts: Monday July 31 and Tuesday August 1, 2017, 19:30 hours, at the Pedro Arrupe Auditorium, in the university campus. This will be the first time the Jesuit Symphony is performed in Guadalajara.
The Jesuit Symphony is an epic work inspired by the life of St. Ignatius of Loyola.
“Sixty years ago, on a 31 of July, day of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the ITESO was born. With this in mind, the ITESO starts today a year of celebration with academic, cultural, artistic and sportive events which will allow us a dialogue about the present of our university and the challenges we face in Mexico and the World, both as an institution and as individuals. We start these celebrations with music as en element of union that lets us share the joy and allows us an encounter with the other. We invite you all to these concerts.”

This Symphony has also been performed to celebrate the anniversaries of other Jesuit institutions: Universidad Iberoamericana’s (70º Anniversary, Mexico City, 2013) and Universidad del Salvador (60º Anniversary, Buenos Aires, Argentina, 2016).

Con motivo de la celebración de los 60 años del ITESO, Universidad Jesuita de Guadalajara, la Orquesta Filarmónica 5 de Mayo, dirigida por Fernando Lozano, interpretará como acto inaugural de los festejos la Sinfonía Jesuita de Venus Rey Jr, en dos funciones los días lunes 31 de julio y martes 1 de agosto a las 19:30 horas en el Auditorio Pedro Arrupe del campus del ITESO. Esta será la primera vez que esta Sinfonía se toque en Guadalajara.
La Sinfonía Jesuita es una obra épica inspirada en la vida de San Ignacio de Loyola.
“Hace 60 años, la Asociación Civil que hizo nacer al ITESO firmó su acta constitutiva, un 31 de julio, Día de San Ignacio de Loyola. Con este motivo, el ITESO inicia hoy un año de celebraciones con actividades académicas, culturales, artísticas y deportivas para dialogar sobre el presente de la universidad y sobre los retos que México y el mundo ponen ante nosotros, como institución y como personas. Abrimos esta celebración con música pues es un elemento de unión, que propicia el disfrute compartido y el encuentro con el otro. Extendemos a todos la invitación.”
Esta Sinfonía ha sido presentada en las celebraciones de aniversarios de otras instituciones jesuitas: Universidad Iberoamericana (70º Aniversario, Ciudad de México, 2013) y la Universidad del Salvador (60º Aniversario, Buenos Aires, Argentina, 2016).
