VENUS REY JR
On December 3rd 2017 a new composition written by Venus Rey Jr will be premiered in the United States.
The program will feature Philip Glass’ “Mishima” Quartet, Boccherini’s Quintet for strings and guitar, and Venus Rey Jr’s String Quartet No. 1 “Jewish”. The McAllen String Quartet will perform the program.
This first String Quartet by Venus Rey Jr receives its name, “Jewish”, due to the musical materials used in the composition, particularly in the third movement. Venus Rey Jr is a great admirer of Jewish music (Sepharadic, Yiddish, Klezmer). His intention is to homage the great Jewish musical tradition.
The McAllen String Quartet has positioned itself among the best Quartets in South Texas. It is integrated by Sam Heredia (violin 1), Sarah Torres (violin 2), Miguel Gutierrez (viola) and Natalie Haugeberg (cello).
The date is Sunday December 3rd, 2017, 19:00 hours at the Main Auditorium of the McAllen Public Library (4001 N. 23rd St. McAllen, Texas). There will be a pre-concert chat at 18:30 hours. Free entrance.

El 3 de diciembre de 2017 tendrá lugar, en Estados Unidos, el estreno mundial de una nueva composición de Venus Rey Jr.
El programa estará integrado por el Cuarteto “Mishima”, de Philip Glass; el quinteto para guitarra y cuerdas de Luigi Boccherini; y por el primer Cuarteto para Cuerdas, “Jewish”, de Venus Rey Jr. La interpretación correrá a cargo del McAllen String Quartet.
Este primer Cuarteto de Cuerdas de Venus Rey Jr recibe el nombre de “Judío” (Jewish), en alusión a los materiales utilizados por el compositor, especialmente en el tercer movimiento. Venus Rey Jr es un gran admirador y entusiasta de las música judía (sefaradí, yidish, klezmer) y ha querido rendir homenaje con esta composición a esa gran tradición musical.
El McAllen String Quartet se ha posicionado como uno de los mejores cuartetos del sur de Texas. Está conformado por Sam Heredia (primer violín), Sarah Torres (segundo violín), Miguel Gutiérrez (viola) y Natalie Haugeberg (violonchelo).
La cita es el domingo 3 de diciembre de 2017, a las 19:00 horas, en el auditorio principal de la Biblioteca Pública de McAllen (McAllen Public Library: 4001 N. 23rd St. McAllen, Texas). A las 18:30 horas habrá una charla previa. Ingreso libre.
